The Faces Behind The Show

THE PROOF was distilled from real conversations on The Show with Dr. Joe. A small sample of the K–12 and higher-ed leaders who've sat in the seat.

What Guests Say About The Show

The same honesty that built these ten traits.

THE PROOF didn't come from a survey. It came from conversations like these.

"

We have become habituated to viewing educational leadership through filters — appearing to meet mission while internally delivering bare minimum performance. This conversation helped us name it and fix it.

Dr. Jason Morrison
President — Trinity Valley Community College, TX
"

Dr. Joe goes places in a conversation that most interviewers never reach. He knew our work before we sat down — and that made all the difference in what we were able to say.

Dr. Kimberly Britt
Provost, Maricopa Community College System — Trait IX Guest
"

Being on The Show gave our team something to point to — a shared story about who we're becoming. The response from our board, faculty, and community was something I didn't anticipate.

President — Fairleigh Dickinson University

What's Left Over

Every seat leaves holding something.

You were in the room. A MonEgraph is what's left over once it ends — the part built to outlast the hour. Ten short chapters, one per trait: the story, the research behind it, the mantra said out loud on stage, and one Ask due before you turn the page.

"Twenty leaders told the truth about the work.
Ten traits are what it left behind.
You're the proof too."

Who's Asking The Questions

Thirty years in the job, before the microphone.

Dr. Joe Hill spent nearly three decades inside education — a classroom teacher, a principal, a superintendent — before he founded Higher Performance Group. A first-generation college student, he built a career on the belief that hard work alone would be enough.

In 2018, that belief cracked. What he found next he calls the Individual Brilliance Ceiling — the discovery that an organization's smartest, hardest-working leaders can become its biggest performance barrier, because great leaders don't scale. Great leadership teams do. THE PROOF, and nearly two hundred conversations on The Show, grew out of chasing that idea into the open.

He's married to Ms. Becky, a middle school science teacher, and lives in Stillwater, Minnesota.
